Project Justification

The FCDP has been rendering yeomen service to the poor and needy of the coastal belt of Kollam District since 1985. It was a time when more than half the fisher folk were living in deplorable conditions.

Proposed activities
The proposed centers ,Pallithottam, Moothakkara, and Thangassery, are urban coastal villages situated on the western end of Quilon city, on the shores of the Arabian sea where majority of the people are traditional fishermen. This covers a population of 18000 people (7000 families). The area and communities have been selected after a survey which showed that the area has a health need. The locations of the centers are such that they are easily accessible to the population. The CHC needs land and building with the following facilities.

•   A waiting lounge
•   A consultation room
•   A treatment room
•   A utility room
•   A toilet
•   A disposing area
•   It is to be well furnished with water supply, electricity, gas supply and telephone.
